The Actions screen gives you a short list of things to do next for your brand. Mentioned makes each Action from your measured results and shows the evidence for it. To open the screen, go to Audit and select Actions.

How Mentioned makes an Action

Mentioned checks your results each night, after your scores update. Fixed rules look for a clear pattern in your data. Mentioned does not use AI to write or choose an Action. Each Action shows:
  • what Mentioned measured
  • the dates that the measurement covers
  • how many times your prompts ran in that period
If the evidence for a pattern is not strong enough, Mentioned does not make an Action. A short list, or an empty list, is a valid result. If the evidence for an open Action goes away in a later check, Mentioned removes that Action from the list.

Types of Action

Before you contact a site from a Not on a cited site Action, make sure that it is an independent publisher. Some cited sites belong to a competitor. A Named on one engine, not another Action often rests on a small sample. Use it as a lead to check, not as a proven pattern. For more about the data behind each type, see Mentions and Mention Rate, Citation Score and Cited Sources, Sentiment in AI Answers, and Site Health Metrics.

Read the Actions screen

Four cards at the top count your Actions:
  • Open shows the Actions that you did not mark done or dismiss.
  • Rival named shows the open Actions where engines named a competitor that you track, and not you.
  • On-site fixes shows the open Actions from your site audit.
  • Done shows the Actions that you marked done.
Each Action has labels. Rival named shows when a competitor is part of the evidence. One more label shows the type of work:
  • On-site fix: a change to your website.
  • Content: a new page, or a change to a page that you publish.
  • Off-site: work with another website.
Actions with a competitor named come first in the list. Then on-site fixes come before content, and content comes before off-site work. When two Actions are equal, the Action with more evidence comes first. Select an Action to see its details:
  • What to do gives the recommended task.
  • Why it matters explains the reason for the task.
  • Evidence gives the counts and the dates that the Action comes from.
Each Action also has a link to the screen that shows its data, for example View tracked prompts or View site audit issues.

Mark an Action done or dismiss it

1

Open the Action

Select the Action in the Open actions list.
2

Record your decision

Select Mark done when you complete the work. Select Dismiss if the Action does not apply to your brand.
3

Undo a decision if necessary

Select Undo in the message that shows. Or find the Action in Done and dismissed and select Restore.
Mentioned keeps your decision. A later check does not show a done or dismissed Action again. The next Action with strong evidence can take its place in the list.
After you complete an Action, use its link to monitor the data. Your results change only after engines give new responses to your prompts.

Copy Actions into a report

Select Copy actions to copy all open Actions. To copy one Action, select the copy icon on that Action. The copy includes the title, what to do, the evidence and the dates of each Action. You cannot copy an Action without its evidence. You can paste the copy into Google Slides, Google Docs, Keynote or PowerPoint with its format. In Slack or email, it pastes as plain text.

When the screen has no Actions

  • Not enough data yet shows when Mentioned has not made any Actions for the project. This is usual for a new project. Check again in about a week.
  • No open Actions shows when you marked all Actions done or dismissed them. New Actions show when a nightly check finds strong enough evidence.

Why it matters for AEO

Metrics show where your brand stands in AI answers. Actions connect those results to specific work on your prompts, your pages, and the sites that engines cite. Each Action keeps its evidence, so you can show a client why the work matters.
Actions reflect the prompts, AI engines, competitors, and site audit in your project. They do not measure the whole internet. An Action shows where to act. It does not promise that engines will name your brand after you complete it.
