1
Create your account
Go to app.mentioned.ai and sign up using your email address, or continue with Google or SSO if your organisation supports it. Once you’ve submitted your details, check your inbox for a confirmation email and click the verification link to activate your account.
2
Create a project
After logging in, click New Project from the dashboard. Give your project a name — it’s best to name it after the brand you’re tracking so it’s easy to identify at a glance. Enter the brand’s primary website domain, then select the industry that best describes the brand’s category. Mentioned uses this context to generate the most relevant queries during your scans.
3
Add your brand keywords
Enter the keywords and phrases you want Mentioned to track. This should include your brand name, any product or service names, and key topics or questions your customers typically search for. The more specific and representative your keyword list, the more useful your scan results will be. You can always add or refine keywords later from the project settings.
4
Choose your competitors
Add three to five competitor brands to benchmark your visibility against. Mentioned uses these to calculate your AI Share of Voice and to give you a clear picture of how you stack up in your category. Not sure who to add? See the Choosing Competitors guide for tips on building a meaningful competitive set.
5
Run your first scan
Once your project is configured, click Run Scan. Mentioned will submit your tracked queries across all supported AI engines — ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok — and collect the responses for analysis. A typical scan takes between 5 and 15 minutes to complete, depending on the number of keywords and competitors. You’ll receive a notification when it’s done. For more detail on what happens during a scan, see Running a Scan.
6
Read your results
Once your scan is complete, head to the Dashboard to review your scores. You’ll see your Mention Rate, AI Share of Voice, Brand Health Score, and Citation Score, each broken down by AI engine and keyword. Head to The Dashboard for a full walkthrough of how to interpret what you’re seeing.
Your first scan establishes your baseline — the starting point against which all future scans are compared. Don’t be discouraged if your initial scores are lower than expected; many brands have limited visibility in AI-generated answers today, and that’s exactly what Mentioned helps you change over time. Scans can be run on demand or scheduled to run automatically so you can track your progress consistently.
