A mention occurs when a measured AI answer includes your brand. Total Mentions shows how many measured answers included your brand. Mention Rate shows how consistently your brand appeared across successful results in the selected data. A successful result without your brand stays in the measured denominator. This includes a successful search surface that returns no AI answer. It is evidence that your brand was not mentioned.

Metric availability

Mention Rate shows No data when the Measured Sample has no successfully completed result. No data has no number and no green, amber, or red status. If successful results exist and none mentions your brand, Mention Rate is an available measured zero. A measured zero is not the same as No data.

How to read it

  • A higher Mention Rate means that your brand appears across more of the prompts that you track.
  • A low available rate identifies prompts or AI engines where your brand is often absent.
  • Use the response details to read each mention in context.

Why it matters for AEO

Mentions show that an AI engine connects your brand with a topic that your audience asks about. Mention Rate turns those appearances and absences into a result that you can track.
Mention Rate reflects the prompts, AI engines, competitors, and date range selected in your project. It does not measure the whole internet. Compare periods that use the same measurement configuration.
